Met Office does Quo Vadis proud

windpower renewable solutions Limited were delighted when the Met Office in Exeter offered to host the 4th Quo Vadis Conference – and it proved to be another fantastic success. 54 attended a guided tour of the Met Office facilities on Wednesday afternoon, 17th November with feedback that was totally positive regarding services that the Met Office can offer to wind farm owners and operators.

Wednesday evening saw the Southgate Hotel in Exeter as the venue for the traditional pre-event dinner. With nearly 70 people attending it was the ideal opportunity for likeminded wind industry professionals to network in a relaxed atmosphere.

Quo Vadis is becoming a truly global forum with attendees from the UK, Ireland, Denmark, Finland, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Canada and the USA. Over 80 delegates representing 19 major utility companies and owners saw Clifford McSpadden from the Global Wind Alliance chairing the event on Thursday. The start was made by the MD of B9 Energy Sam Anderson who explained the benefits of communication regarding Health and Safety. This was followed by presentations from the Met Office, GasTOPS, Schaeffler Group, Moventas, and GL Garrad Hassan.

A true highlight of the day was "The Out Of Warranty Journey" presented by Jon Beresford from E.ON, Manager of offshore wind farm Scroby Sands. Jon explained how he, his team at Scroby Sands, and E.ON came to their final decision regarding the Operations and Maintenance of the wind farm after warranty. This was particularly interesting as Scroby Sands was the first offshore wind farm to reach this milestone.

Quo Vadis, one of the leading events in the wind industry, is the only conference held exclusively for owners and operators. windpower renewable solutions Limited are very grateful to their sponsors GL Garrad Hassan, Moventas Wind Oy, the Global Wind Alliance, and Schaeffler Group (INA/FAG) as without them it would not have been possible to run the event free of charge.
